[The scratches are pretty darn huge, actually, one set gouging about a few inches into the floor. The sound of the air being pumped through the ducts just above the cieling makes a mice, low hum. However pretty much everyone can hear something being dragged around in one of the rooms.]
[The further along you move, the more the ground starts to feel uneven, some of the floor having been pushed up. The light shined into the open door reveals a dark lab, though the small room's been re-purposed as somethings' home. Piles of dirt fill most of the room, and the occasional large rat (and MAN are those large) and zombie clearly cached for food later. The piles of dirt undulate with whatever's under them, and an unseen thing yanks it's latest kill under the soil.]
[The hole, for the moment at least, is quiet. However there's an acidic smell in the air. Acid doesn't have a smell you say? Well then explain why this one does and it's kind of burns to breathe the fumes in.
Hush, I can so remember to reply to the threads I'm dm-ing
*the acid smell must have been what made him think Shaun was there for a moment i'm a horrible person sorry*
It would be best if we managed to get through without disturbing the ground... or after destroying it altogether. I wonder if these fumes are flammable, and where they are coming from--the next room or whatever lies in wait in this one.

[this is a good time to draw a sword, right?]

It'd be too good to hope that he meant ordinary rats.

Do you hear that? That can't be a rat.

[someone else had better go check that rat sound out]

Someone bring the torch and hold it up--I'm not going in there blind.

He speaks in barely a whisper:]
We're not going in there.

I doubt any other way will be safer. How large is the room and how much effort will it be to clear it?

[Cesare knows better than to shout, but he is tense when he replies. He can't see, but he's so curious]

There's something in the ground here. Might be more than one.

AND WITH THE RIGHT ACCOUNT. Shut up.]

How can we possibly fight this thing? I refuse to go.

*edging in via the left side--sword first* Are you all going back then?

[I mean okay, if the tiles under everyone's feet weren't starting to warp and shift already.
Yeah it smells pretty strongly from that room alone, but it's starting to permeate the hall now too...]
