How often have you laughed at my lack of knowledge about this age? I suspect it is often, as the others do. However I suspect, or perhaps hope, that you laugh more at the idea of it, how something that seems so simple could possibly be taken in such a light. A plant that you often use in your meals is a nightshade to be wary of in my time. My words become a comedy of errors to you as I take what you say and find entirely different- and wrong, meaning to it. There is cruel, mocking humor to it, I know it as such every time, but it was not until now that I remembered another form to it.

To me the nature of your dress is as common to me as your unfamiliar words, it is so commonly known that it is expected for everyone to know it. When something we know as one means suddenly behaves in another, there is a moment of surprise, and in that moment the clash between the two can bring humor.

You are not, I was not lying when I said you were more Columbina than Harlequin, and not entirely for the reason you thought then.

In the plays there are a number of roles, the servants, the old men, the lovers. The old men keep the lovers from each other, the servants cause trouble and through their wit bring the two together again. Harlequin is an acrobat in the servants, sometimes quick-witted, sometimes dull, but a popular one, so he is seen often. In fact one could say that most of them have a failing in regard to their wit or common sense, save for Columbina. She was lover to Harlequin, but would use both him and the old men to bring the play to its' end.
